A Russian Telegram channel has made claims that Vladimir Putin’s cancer treatment’ could be halted thanks to worsening relations with Israel, reports The Mirror.
The General SVR channel, believed to be operated by a former Russian intelligence agent, said Putin was “warned about possible problems with the supply of drugs that are purchased in Israel for his treatment.”
The claims come amid a rumored souring of relations after the Kremlin ordered the closure of the Jewish Ag
General SVR is reportedly run by an exiled Kremlin lieutenant-general, who is known by the alias Viktor Mikhailovich. It claims insider knowledge despite being hostile to Putin.
Russian contacts say, “The main drugs for the treatment of oncology by Vladimir Putin were prescribed by Israeli doctors and purchased in Israel.
“During the years of oncology treatment by the Russian president, all attempts to [obtain] ‘import substitution’ drugs only led to a deterioration in health—and experiments were abandoned.”
Putin is known to have held recent phone calls with Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog. Ex-Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has previously warned “we are in the midst of a dangerous crisis between Russia and Israel.”
More claims and rumors from experts and former cronies also allege Putin is seriously unwell, after footage of him has shown him shaking, holding onto a table and looking bloated over the course of the last year.
Journalist Mark Kotlyarsky said he believes Putin has pancreatic cancer.
In June, ex-Soviet and now Israeli journalist Mark Kotlyarsky said that a pancreatic cancer diagnosis was confirmed to him by both Kremlin and medical experts in Moscow.
“Putin was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer—a malignant aggressive tumor, which is characterized by uncontrolled growth of glandular and epithelial tissues in the excretory ducts of the organ,” he posted, amid further claims that Putin was treated at the Blokhin Centre for Oncology in Moscow.
“Moreover, most likely, the disease progresses so much that the operation, if it prolongs life, [will not do so] for long.”
Speculation over Putin’s health began to intensify after the barbaric and unjustified invasion of Ukraine in which millions of people had to flee their homes, thousands were killed and large swathes of cities were destroyed.
