‘Royal expert’: Meghan Markle is hindering détente between Princes Harry and William

April 8, 2024

The intricacies of royal relationships have once again come under scrutiny as the rift between Prince Harry/Meghan Markle and Prince William/Kate Middleton, persists. Despite attempts at reconciliation, the specter of estrangement looms large, with royal expert Tom Quinn shedding light on the ongoing saga, reports Marca, Spain’s national daily sport newspaper.

Quinn suggests that while efforts have been made from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge‘s side to extend an olive branch, Meghan Markle’s purported grievances on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s side are proving to be a stumbling block.

In an interview with Britain’s The Mirror, Quinn remarked on the challenge faced by Prince William and Kate Middleton in their bid to mend fences—particularly in light of Kate’s recent illness, which traditionally tends to bring families together.

There has been a shift here since Kate’s illness. Harry and Meghan do feel they need to extend an olive branch, but Meghan’s sense of grievance is still preventing anything really meaningful happening,” Quinn remarked.

Despite Prince Harry’s purported desire for reconciliation, Quinn underscores Meghan’s influence—suggesting that until she feels adequately appeased by the Royal Family’s actions and apologies, any meaningful progress may remain elusive.

Quinn also revealed recent attempts by William and Kate to bridge the gap—including a suggestion to bring together both families and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, for a visit to the UK. However, Meghan’s reported reluctance to entertain the idea has hindered progress.

There is no way Meghan would bring the children to the UK. William and Kate have suggested that Meghan and Harry bring the children and that the two couples and their families try to make up, but the suggestion is not leading anywhere so far,” Quinn stated.

The strained relations stem from a series of public disagreements, including the Sussexes’ revelations in their Netflix docuseries and their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey. Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare, further exacerbated tensions, with detailed accounts of heated exchanges and accusations against his brother and sister-in-law.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are puppets now

February 9, 2023

Following the release of their revealing Netflix docuseries and the bombshell tell-all Spare, many royal spectators have been curious to know what Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s next move will be. Well, in a surprising turn of events, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been turned into puppets and have made their stage debut alongside some of the world’s biggest celebrities—kind of, reports Bustle.

Yes, Prince Harry and Markle puppets are featured in the brand-new theatre adaptation of the classic satirical sketch show Spitting Image.

Penned by comedians Sean Foley, Matt Forde, and Al Murray, Idiots Assemble: Spitting Image Saves the World opened at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre on Wednesday, February 8, and, along with Harry and Meghan, features an all-star puppet cast of celebrities and political figures including Tom Cruise, King Charles, Greta Thunberg, Stormzy, Sir Ian McKellen, and more.

The show is said to be “simultaneously inspired and appalled by real events,” and follows Top Gun’s Cruise as he is tasked by King Charles with saving Great Britain. Meanwhile, ticket holders can also expect a Thunberg and Stormzy duet, as well as appearances from Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping.

“With a plot more improbable than the last year of British politics. Join the iconic Spitting Image puppets in this world premiere as they grace the stage for the very first time,” the show’s official synopsis reads. “Have they just come out for a night on the town? Or will they wipe out all of civilisation?”

As per the Independent, the original Spitting Image TV series aired for 18 seasons between 1984 and 1996—attracting 15 million viewers at the peak of its popularity. The show was revived in 2020 on the streaming platform BritBox, before being cancelled after just two seasons in late 2022.
