Fixer-uppers: Plastic and cosmetic surgery trends of 2017

February 21, 2018

If 2016 was the year of the lip filler, then 2017 was the year when we really “put some skin in the game” to experiment with stealth procedures such as Botox treatments (up by 15%), microneedling (up by 85%) and non-surgical nose jobs (up by 35%), according to a study by the website, RealSelf

As a well-known online community for sharing information about cosmetic treatments, RealSelf summed up last year’s most in-demand plastic and cosmetic surgery treatments, based on data from the site.

Herewith, their list of the most mainstream, non-surgical techniques of the year (from most popular to least) :

  1. Non-surgical fat reduction (such as Sculpsure and Coolsculpting);
  2. Fillers (Juvederm and Restylane);
  3. Hair restoration (using injections, lasers, light therapy or transplants);
  4. Toxins (Botox and Dysport);
  5. Facial lasers (for rejuvenation);
  6. Resurfacing lasers (for scar treatment);
  7. Acne treatment;
  8. Laser hair removal; and
  9. Chemical peels.

And for those who were willing to go beyond skin deep, the following surgical techniques were most requested (in order of preference): breast augmentation/lift; rhinoplasty; tummy tuck; liposuction; vaginal rejuvenation; butt enhancement; facelift; eyelid surgery; breast reduction; and the “mommy makeover.”
